A total of 5,985,302 electors were registered to vote across the state. Of these, 3,777,554 votes were polled, resulting in an overall voter turnout of 63.11%. The average victory margin across all constituencies was 5,581 votes, with the closest contest decided by just 4 votes and the largest margin reaching 28,640 votes.
A total of 5 political parties won at least one seat in this election. Each constituency uses the First-Past-The-Post (FPTP) electoral system. The party or coalition winning a majority of assembly seats forms the state government and appoints the Chief Minister.
