The 2009 Lok Sabha (Parliament) election in Maharashtra was held to elect Members of Parliament (MPs) from 48 parliamentary constituencies in the state. Indian National Congress emerged as the leading party, winning 17 seats. Shiv Sena came second with 11 seats.
A total of 72,636,480 electors were registered to vote across the state. Of these, 36,446,482 votes were polled, resulting in an overall voter turnout of 50.2%. The average victory margin across all constituencies was 74,211 votes, with the closest contest decided by just 2,933 votes and the largest margin reaching 336,831 votes.
